December 10, 1915 – The 1,000,000th Ford

The Ford Model T was produced from August 12, 1908 until May 26, 1927 with more than 15,000,000 produced overall, making it the best selling car to exist until being outsold by the Volkswagen Beetle. The Model T was the car in production when Henry upped his production ability by introducing the moving assembly line to the auto industry. With that he was able to crank out car after car and on this day in 1915 the 1,000,000 Ford rolled out of the River Rouge factory in Detroit. That year Ford produced a total of 308,162 vehicles with the base model Runabout selling for $390. The next year production went up by nearly 200,000 units and the price fell by $45. Pic: 1915 Model T by I, Lglswe, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=2297412
