April 18, 1979 – British racer Anthony Davidson is born

Anthony Denis Davidson, a championship racecar driver from England, was born on this day in 1979. Davidson’s career began in kart racing, where he enjoyed great success. In 1999 he got into the driver’s seat for his first auto racing season where he took home 5 checkered flags and led overall points in the British Formula Ford Winter Series. Davidson has raced in all sorts of contests, including Formula 1 and Sportscars. He has participated in races including the Brazilian Grand Prix, US Grand Prix and 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2014, Davidson and his teammate Sébastien Buemi won the World Endurance Championships.
