Formula One driver Stirling Moss placed first at the Pescara Grand Prix in a Vanwall 57 on this day in 1957, marking the first time that he won a race in a British car. This Grand Prix was the only Formula One World Championship held at the track. The 25 km (16 mi) course is now part of a highway along the coast of Pescara.
