Woody Wagon For Sale: 1977 Ford Country Squire – $7,800

By Cody Clark

What would you give to live the dream? How about $7,800? That’s the price on this fantastic 1977 Ford LTD Country Squire available on Craigslist in Scarsdale, New York. Showing off a lumber yard’s worth of wood paneling, outstanding flip-up headlights and 400 cubic inches of engine goodness that just won’t quit even after nearly half a century, this LTD offers a retroactive resolution to your malaise dreams.

The seller is sparse with details about this rolling apartment complex, but does note the important details: minimal rust, a stout V8 and unbeatable crank windows. The paint looks clean (even on top!) and only the ‘70s could produce a white hue that mismatched with the brown paneling, although the seller notes a recent respray. The car retains some spectacular hubcaps and an entire parts bin full of seemingly original badges. The tires look as old as the seller claims, so drive at your own risk, but don’t risk forgetting about that delightful swinging rear hatch.

Interior of a 1977 Ford Station Wagon for Sale

Interior photos show the continuing trend of paneling that isn’t really out of place clad against the brown plastic of the dash. While the lack of a third row is a bummer, the cavernous rear cargo area makes this example look more like a full size van, with room for lumber or all the furniture in your house. The shifter on the column looks like it’s ready to tackle police work, but the slippery leather seats say otherwise.

The engine bay looks… as expected, with little dots of rust and notes from many years of service written under the hood. But the seller claims the heart of this car runs well and is ready to tackle the turnpike. A license plate tracking to Big Horn county Wyoming has us marveling at the road trip east that must have depleted a small nation’s oil reserves.

This LTD looks like it’s ready to turn those old tires into dust (one at a time) and then be given some love to last for another 50 years. Whatever your dream may be for this car, it’s waiting patiently to take up a few square miles in your driveway.

If you’ve got a station wagon for sale on Craigslist, or some other cool truck, car or van for sale, let the team at This Day in Automotive History know and we can possibly do a feature on it!
