When the first car badged as a Porsche hit the road in June of 1948, Ferry Porsche and his father Ferdinand knew they had something special on their hands. The VW powered sports car, tuned to the Ferry’s exacting standards, quickly proved popular in Germany and beyond. With orders pouring in, Porsche’s began to roll out. On this day in 1954 the 5,000th Porsche, a Porsche 356, left the factory.
