Bruce Springsteen released the song Pink Cadillac as the non-album B-side of “Dancing in the Dark” on this day in 1984. The song followed the trend of Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” and Wilson Pickett’s “Mustang Sally” in using automotive metaphors for sex. The lyric “I love you for your pink Cadillac” is not about a car. The song peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Top Tracks list and became a crowd favorite during Springsteen’s Born in the USA tour.
