November 17, 1998 – DaimlerChyrsler begins trading on NYSE

Just five days after the formation of DaimlerChrysler the company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on this day in 1998. The company came to be when American Chrysler Corporation merged with the German conglomerate Daimler-Benz AG.  This made DaimlerChrysler the world’s fifth-largest automaker at the time, falling behind General Motors, Ford, Toyota and VW. Photo of NYSE by Arnoldius – Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0
