October 24, 2024 – Scout Motors introduces all new vehicle lineup

On October, 24, 2024, Scout Motors (VW) introduced the all new Scout vehicle line up in Franklin, TN. Scout Motors, a relaunch of sorts of the original International Harvester Scout line, will produce all new EV trucks and SUVs. Designed for the outdoor enthusiast and actual truck users, the vehicles, introduced as the Traveler (SUV) and the Terra (body-on-frame truck) offer a plethora of functionality not found in other vehicles. As a bit of surprise, they revealed a hybrid version as well. More on that in a moment.

New Scout Motors Truck & SUV – The Terra & The Traveler

Scout Motors revealed its first two models, the Terra truck and the Traveler SUV. Starting with the Terra, inspired by the first Scout ever built and shares a similar color, it is built to be used. Featuring a 5.5 foot bed and seating for up to xix. It’s based on the original Scout 80, with subtle design queues.

The SUV is inspired by the last Scout ever built on October 21, 1980 and shares a similar red color. Obviously these are just a few of the colors that will be available, but it neat to see the influence. Interesting exterior bits include grab hooks on the hood, allowing for tie downs for large gear.

Scout Motors Highlights

The interior integrates function, technology and fashion. Featuring beefy knobs, an optional bench seat in both models and retro inspired fabric. Each model is available with integrated tech as to be expected, but holds on to a variety of analog functions, such as knobs and buttons, as well as a real compass. Let’s take a quick look at some of the highlights mentioned

  • The Terra has a 7,000 lb towing capacity and a 2,000 lb payload
  • Each model has 1000 lb torque
  • 3.5 0-60. front and rear mechanical diffs
  • Wading depth of 3 ft
  • Tunable suspension for street and off road
  • 2 120 v outlets
  • You can fit your golf clubs in the frunk

Scout is building a connection machine, as they put it. The cars will be fitted with NACS and bi directional charging mechanisms. The Scouts have a 350 mile range.

Meet the brand new Scout Harvester

In a bit of a surprise, Scout introduced the Harvester, a Traveler EV with a gas powered range extender (read: generator that powers the battery). The Harvester will feature a 500 mile hybrid range.

Reserve a Scout Motors Vehicle

Reservations for new Scout Motors vehicles open immediately. The expected pricing is under $60,000 for base models. With state incentives, the price falls to nearly $50,000.
