Classic Cars for Sale

A Pontiac Pony with a Hollywood Tie

Can you name the movie that this bright and cheery 1978 Pontiac Firebird starred in? We’ll get to the answers a little later on, giving you some time to think about this Wilde (that’s a clue) ride. This Firebird lives up to its name, at least in its paint scheme, and I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty sweet. I’m a wear bright colors kinda guy, not for the attention, but for the general vibes. Here we have a car that will certainly motivate a few frowns to turn upside down. But let’s be real, you’re not reading this for automotive mental health tips, you just want to know what movie it was in and what’s under the hood. Alright, et’s let the answers out of the birdcage and get the details on this Pontiac Firebird for sale

on Craigslist near Las Vegas.

The Firebird is a direct response to the Ford Mustang, coming out for 1967 alongside its sister car, the Chevrolet Camaro. By the late 1970s, the once perfomance oriented Pontiac division suffered setbacks at the hands of emission regulations and surging gas prices. That leads us to the mild 305 c.i. V8 and automatic transmission that makes this thing go. You may not expect a powerful punch given the combo, but you will receive excellent cruise-ability and plenty of thumbs up.

This example is being sold by a dealer who provides relatively few details about the subject car in a post that appears to be drafted by A.I. (this post is not). Here’s what else we can muster from the ad:

  • The five digit odometer sits at 83,634 miles
  • The car has been equipped with a CD player
  • It has a wood grain style dashboard
  • The interior is light blue-ish and quite clean

What movie was a 1978 Pontiac Firebird with flames in?

So the first, and only, clue given was that the car was Wilde, capital letter intended. Why? The movie was directed. by Olivia Wilde and it came out in 2019. Drum roll pleaseeeeeeee: Booksmart! That’s the name of the movie. I’ve never seen it either, but given this car and the fact it stars Jonah Hill’s sister Beanie Feldstein, I’d watch it.

The real question is, does the Hollywood connection warrant the $35,000 price tag on this flamed out Firebird. I guess that is up to you. Check out the ad
