The car was ordered new by Gable and customized to his specifications, with an extended hoodline, raked windshield, rear fender skirts, and dual rear-mounted spares. Its Hollywood connection adds another layer to an already important Duesenberg, and the sale price was reported as the third-highest ever paid for a Duesenberg at public auction.
2003 Ferrari Enzo – $9,410,000
A red 2003 Ferrari Enzo sold at RM Sotheby’s for $9,410,000, placing it just ahead of the Duesenberg among Monterey’s top confirmed results so far. The car was a U.S.-specification Enzo, one of 111 U.S.-market examples out of 498 total cars built, and showed 9,834 miles. While not as low-mileage or unusual as some record-setting Enzos, it still proved how strong the market has become for Ferrari’s early-2000s halo car. RM Sotheby’s Monterey results listed it as the sale’s second-highest result behind the Daytona SP3.
2003 Ferrari Enzo – $10,675,000
Another 2003 Ferrari Enzo sold at Broad Arrow’s Quail Auction for $10,675,000, making it the highest Broad Arrow sale of Monterey Car Week 2026. This example stood out for its Nero D.S. exterior over Rosso leather, Ferrari Classiche certification completed in 2026, and single-family ownership history since delivery. The result landed within its $9 million to $11 million estimate and reinforced the Enzo’s current status as one of the hottest modern Ferrari collectibles.
2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3 – $17,825,000
The biggest Ferrari sale reported so far is a 2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3, which sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey for $17,825,000. That was far above its presale estimate of $10 million to $12 million and more than $10 million higher than the previous non-charity model record. RM Sotheby’s results list it as the most expensive car from its Monterey sale so far.
1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe – $42,905,000
The top Monterey Car Week auction sale so far is the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, chassis CSX2300, which sold at Gooding Christie’s Pebble Beach for $42,905,000. That result made it the most expensive American car ever sold at public auction. CSX2300 is the third of only six Cobra Daytona Coupes built and the only one Carroll Shelby personally owned. Created to take on Ferrari’s 250 GTO in international GT racing, the Daytona Coupe already had legendary status. At $42.9 million, it now has a record-setting auction result to match.
