1925 – Chrysler Corporation Is Born

1932 – America Gets Its First Federal Gas Tax


Paying taxes at the pump became reality on this day in 1932 when President Herbert Hoover signed the Revenue Act of 1932, introducing the first federal gasoline tax in U.S. history. Initially set at just 1 cent per gallon, the measure was intended as an emergency response to Great Depression-era budget deficits rather than a transportation funding tool. 1941 – Louis Chevrolet Dies


The automotive world lost one of its most recognizable names on this day in 1941 when racer, mechanic, and automaker Louis Chevrolet died at age 62. Cofounder of Chevrolet alongside William C. 1948 – Charles Nash Dies at 84

Former General Motors president and Nash Motors founder Charles W. Nash died on this day in 1948 at age 84. After rising from humble beginnings to lead General Motors, Nash left to form his own automaker, building a reputation for innovation, efficiency, and practical engineering. Nash Motors later became part of American Motors Corporation (AMC), helping pave the way for brands and vehicles that shaped mid-century American car culture.

2023 – BMW Motorrad Reveals the M 1000 XR Prototype


Performance motorcycles entered new territory on this day in 2023 when BMW Motorrad unveiled the prototype for the BMW M 1000 XR, blending long-distance sport touring practicality with serious superbike performance.
